Toys Of The Future: Do These Patents Reveal What Lovense Is Launching Next?

When I first started visiting cam sites (which was back in the dialup days), most models maybe had a dildo or a basic vibrator, not always even a rabbit. Sound-activated vibes like OhMiBod came along in 2006 and fuck machines were still extremely rare.

Then, in 2010, the first generation of Lovense sex toys launched, and everything changed

It took a few years for those pink plastic pussy antennas to become commonplace, but the interactivity and tip-responsive design of the Lush meant models no longer had to rely on toys that reacted to the tip noise. Instead, pervs could control the toy itself directly.

Patents lock down Lovense's technology— more on that in a moment— and you won't see any other toys with the widespread, official, integrated support that Lovense can offer.

By studying the latest patents, we can get a pretty good idea of what Lovense *might* be planning to launch next.

The Current Lovense Line-up

With great power comes great responsibility, and with so much of the market in a stranglehold, all eyes are on Lovense to see what's in the pipeline for interactive live streaming.

The company already boasts a family of popular cam site toys, covering most of the main categories:

  • Nora, Lovense's rabbit vibe with a rotating G-spot massager head
  • Domi, a wand vibrator that's officially marketed as unisex
  • Hush, a tip-activated and remote controllable vibrating butt plug

There's the Lovense Sex Machine, and even a Lovense 4K Webcam. But the rest of the toys feel like variations on the same themes, such as the Lush-alike Dolce and Vulse, or the G-spot wand Osci, which is like a Nora without the rabbit part.

So what innovations might come next from Lovense?

Luckily, we don't have to guess, as the brand's parent company, Singapore-based Hytto Pte Ltd, routinely files patents to protect any upcoming inventions.

And that means we can see what they're working on. 😉

Lovense's Love of Patents

It's no secret that Lovense loves filing patents - they even have a page on their website that lists the patent numbers of their products, as well as their Cam Extension and API.

One of the most significant patents they've filed is US Patent Number 9762515 B1 "Interactive online entertainment system and method".

This covers adult toys that connect via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi and respond to tips via a web browser extension or an app, or via a live control link generated by the model.

Sound familiar?

It's important not just because it protects Lovense's right to make and sell tip-activated sex toys, but also because it doesn't apply to one specific toy. As Lovense introduce more tip-responsive gadgets, they're automatically covered, too.

Lovense tip activation utility

Why Is Lovense The Only Tip-Activated FuckMachine?

And that brings us back around to the Lovense Sex Machine. While fuckmachines were once very expensive and very rare to see on cam, that's no longer the case - you can pick one up on Amazon for barely three figures.

Yet nobody but Lovense is making tip-activated fuckmachines. That's because of US 9762515 B1.

Others have tried in the past - Hismith sex machines briefly came with an extension that enabled them to respond to tips from cam site viewers - but Lovense's lawyers put a stop to that.

What Happened to Hismith's Version?

In a post on the r/hismith subreddit in August 2023, aer_bellatrix asked how to enable tip response on a Hismith fuckmachine, following the withdrawal of the extension two years previously.

A Hismith representative replied: "We were working on that, but turns out another company owns the patent for tip controlled sex toy activation, so we have been forced to abandon that project, sadly."

Over on r/CamGirlProblems, another reply by hismithofficial named the other company as Lovense. So if you're looking for an alternative to Lovense for tip-controlled fuckmachines, you're unlikely to find one.

What's In The Lovense Product Pipeline?

All of this is to say that, according to all the available evidence, Lovense files patents and enforces them - which is absolutely their right to do so.

But if a Lovense patent covers an idea, you probably won't see it coming from anyone else in the future. What does that mean for the future of the bright pink brand?

Tip To Strip

This is my personal favourite current Lovense patent. It's US12035000B1, and its title is "Selectively revealing garment, and system and control method thereof". The patent was granted on July 9th 2024, and is due to expire on April 27th 2043.

It describes a method to "selectively reveal portions of a user's anatomy in response to a received control signal". That can happen in one of several ways:

  • By using a voltage to turn special panels in the model's clothing transparent
  • By triggering a magnet on the clothing to open a flap or window
  • By putting virtual clothing on-screen on a model who is naked in real life, and allowing the virtual clothes to disappear

The patent application spells out that the 'control signal' will typically be a predefined tip amount, similar to the levels models can set up for their Lovense sex toys. However, it could also be via a control link - again, just as with toys like the Nora or Lush.

Tip Removable Clothing... Coming Soon?

Selective Garment Removal Lovense

I think tip-removable clothing is a stroke of genius, and I can't wait to see what outfits Lovense designs with this technology integrated into them.

Interestingly, the patent describes using the technology for outdoor exhibitionism - I'm not sure what some sites would think of that. Broadcasting and getting naked in public places has been banned by several of the big players for quite some time.

There are some really fun details in this patent, though.

For instance, it suggests that the viewer could have software on their phone or computer that would allow them to pour virtual water over the model, revealing their private parts in the style of a wet T-shirt contest. I hope they follow through and make that a thing!

Teamwork Makes The Dream Work

It's a phrase we've all heard a million times in cam rooms, but teamwork isn't usually a part of controlling a Lovense toy - at best, your tip goes into the queue, and you wait your turn to see the effect.

All that could be changed by patent US11980583B2: "System, apparatus, and method for controlling devices based on accumulation of input".

The most important words are the last three: accumulation of input.

This patent outlines a method in which, instead of reacting immediately to individual tips, the tokens are placed into a virtual pot, and the toy is triggered once a predefined total is reached.

It's already been granted, on May 14th 2024, and is due to expire on March 14th 2039. Lovense have been working for a while on teamwork-focused features, such as the introduction of Blitz Mode in the summer of 2023.

Building on Blitz Mode

Blitz Mode is the 'Crit Rate' thermometer bar you'll see on some models' streams. If viewers tip enough together to reach 100%, the model's toy will enter Frenzy Mode, buzzing her wildly for 30 seconds.

I see this patent as an extension of that capability.

The toy can be triggered by a certain total of tokens, a certain number of tips (regardless of value) or when the queue of tipped patterns reaches a certain minimum duration in seconds.

Will it catch on? I'm not sure.

Over the years, I feel like room-topic goals and countdowns have become less popular. Sure, they still get cleared, but it's often because people tip for more immediate flashes, teases and spanks. Teamwork fell by the wayside a long time ago.

Directing The Show

Remember the Lovense Webcam I mentioned earlier? The software that ships with it already allows models to set up predefined camera positions, which viewers can tip to have the cam move to that position.

The Lovense Webcam launched in early 2023, and in September of that year, Hytto Pte Ltd filed patent application US20240089539A1 "System, apparatus, and method for broadcasting content".

It's still pending, but it would extend the tip-responsiveness of Lovense webcams so that for the right number of tokens, they could rotate, pan or zoom, or even give the tipper full control of the camera for a certain period of time.

This sounds like a recipe for chaos.

It's a nice idea, but I can already imagine the tipping wars with two viewers battling to cancel each other's tips/direction. That should still mean more tokens for the model, though!

Apps in Disguise?

Patent US20240135038A1 "Camouflaged app within interactive web-browser and method for concealing and revealing the same" is still pending as I write this. It outlines a way to hide an app (e.g. the Lovense Remote app) inside another, more innocent-looking app.

To reveal the hidden software, you would need to connect a Lovense toy to your phone, or scan a QR code printed on the toy or its packaging.

According to the patent, this prevents the app from being accessed by any children who might get a hold of the phone (but it's easy to imagine it being used to hide Lovense software from a partner, too).

I think it's fascinating that Lovense's recent patents cover toys, clothing, the webcam itself and the software that controls it all - they're working on every possible angle of this technology.

Will Any Of It Happen?

Probably!

Lovense has a track record of trying many different things, some of which stick. Just look at all the various ways to control Lovense toys: tips, control links, the Lovense Remote app, or even direct toy-to-toy interaction.

It's unlikely (although possible) that ALL of the ideas in these patents will be part of the day-to-day campsite experience by this time next year, but I'll bet we'll start to see some of them go into production in the coming months.

Most likely, these innovations will build on existing Lovense products and features.

The accumulated tips system and the tip-controlled webcam both feel like extensions of what's already available - and that Crit Rate bar is already popular with studio models, from what I've seen.

Less likely is the tip-activated clothing. It just sounds like such a wild concept and I'm not sure many models would go for it.

The virtual clothing that only exists on-screen could be interesting though, as it would unlock whole new ways to interact with the model.

Is It A Good Thing?

If you happened to buy a Hismith sex machine during the brief period when they could be tip-controlled, you probably didn't appreciate Lovense enforcing their patent.

I know models who were affected by losing the ability for their fuckmachine to respond to tips, and that's pretty harsh when you've purchased a product in good faith.

But brands need to be able to protect their intellectual property and prevent those following in their trailblazing footsteps from bandwagoning. Like it or not, Lovense has revolutionised the teledildonics space and earned every patent it has been granted.

Protecting those innovations means Lovense can continue to develop new ideas - even if they're crazy ones like tip-controlled magnetic butt flaps on models' clothing.

When you swipe to pour virtual water over a model to turn her shirt invisible a year from now, remember that it's all thanks to the protection offered by the patent system!
