Which Country Has The Most Cam Models?

Some cam sites have a country filter to indicate how many models are available in a particular region. It's nice to have a number, but it doesn't tell the full story.

That's because each platform attracts models from the countries where its marketing is strongest. 

For example, a site like BongaCams has historically had a large presence in Russia and Ukraine. 

This dates back to their historical acquisitions of RusCams.com and Runetki.com. 

The result today? 

BongaCams has the largest collection of Ukrainian and Russian models in the world. If we were to extrapolate those BongaCams numbers across the entire webcam industry, Eastern European countries would be right at the top. But that doesn't tell the full story.

To understand which countries have the most cam models, we need to take in to account the distribution of models across all of the major cam sites. 

And that's what we've done in our table below.

We've taken three snapshots of the number of models online across major adult webcam platforms, eight hours apart. 

This is to ensure we collected our data during peak traffic periods across multiple timezones. 

(No good trying to judge how many models are available in Australia if you're measuring at 8am!)

Here are the total numbers of models online for each country:

Key Findings

• Colombia has the most webcam models of any country with a staggering 43.75% of all active models online.
• United States has the second most models with 17.84%.
• Germany has the most cam models in Europe with an average 756 performers online.
• The only other country in Europe with half as many models as Germany is Romania - averaging 429.
• South Africa has the most models in Africa with an average 190 performers online.
• Philippines has the most models in Asia with an average 302 performers online.
• China only has 0.23% of the total webcam models despite 17.7% of the global population.

How Trustworthy Is The Data?

We sourced our data from LemonCams. There are various cam aggregator tools out there, but this one is our favorite. It's nice and simple to use.

One major caveat: LemonCams tallies models from 16 cam sites - it doesn't cover the entire industry, or the full range of platforms we've reviewed on CamsRank. 

There are some smaller platforms with decent-sized followings in local markets. The absence of these platforms skews our data somewhat. 

Still, the table is relevant to the vast majority of users, most of whom stick to major platforms like Chaturbate, Streamate and StripChat.

Quality Over Quantity

There's a lot to unpick from our data.

"So, we can browse through shows from 6000+ horny Colombians at any given time. Cool!"

Let's be real though: who has the attention span to actually watch more than one show at once? 

Max at two if I'm fapping on a dual-screen...

It's not massively relevant how many models you can find from a given country. It's the number of good models who can hold your attention that counts.

Quality matters more than quantity.

A factor like stream quality is correlated to Internet connection speeds, which can affect a model's ability to broadcast live, especially as we scroll to the bottom countries on our list. 

We were surprised by the number of models we were able to source from places like Vietnam and Kenya. Upon closer inspection, however, many of these streams suffered from a poor quality viewing experience. 

Buffer, latency, garbled audio moans... you name it.

If you want to enjoy cam shows from models in less prominent regions, you have to be flexible with your stream expectations. It's not gonna be glossy HD in most cases. There's also the issue of communication. 

It's easy to find models who can speak English or Spanish, but supply and demand tilts fast when we look further afield. 

Take India's 100 Hindi-speaking models, for example. They're probably going to have their hands full satisfying an Indian population of 1.4 billion.

Another key finding in the data shows the supposed link between countries with low-cost of living and larger numbers of cam models is a complete fabrication. We can see dozens of countries where we would expect to find models earning a living on cam sites if this were true - but the actual number of models is tiny.

The reality is that over 60% of all cam models online come from just two countries: Colombia and United States.
