BongaCams Review

BongaCams’ main claim to fame is its dominance of the European market, both in terms of recruiting its models and of the main visitors to its platform.

Recent data shows that it currently receives around 150 million visits on a monthly basis: over the last 12 months, it’s switched in and out of third place with LiveJasmin as the 3rd most visited webcam platform. Toward the latter half of the 2010s, it acquired RusCams.com and Runetki, merging both services under the BongaCams brand.

Cam addicts with a particular preference for girls from Eastern Europe tend to favor BongaCams over rival services. No spot online provides as many Ukrainian and Russian performers.

Model Selection

Some websites struggle with quantity, but BongaCams is well on top of giving visitors access to a lot of live cams – over 1,000 live streamers are typically here at any one time (with 2,000 during peak hours). Most of the action comes from females, but you can find couple, males and trans cams here too.

BongaCams’ sidebar has a convenient filtering tool that assists in seeing where most of the models are. Visiting at around noon in an Eastern Europe time zone, here’s what we came across:

Just under half are tagged as being from Russia or Ukraine, with a sizable chunk also hailing from other European countries. If you’re interested in North American or Asian cam action – it’s quite evident that BongaCams isn’t the hub for you.

Female Performers

The majority of BongaCams’ performers are solo females—around 85% of the options made available to you are in this category.

Somewhat surprisingly, the most watched camgirls on BongaCams aren’t from Russia or Ukraine. The top girls were mostly from Colombia and other European countries, with one Asian girl also in the top 10. 

Note that the default sorting is ‘camscore’, which reflects the overall success of the model historically—not just the current session.

When switching to the most popular (current viewer count), the action changed significantly – way more mobile streams and some of them were even in public settings. Three of the top 10 girls were streaming from a car, café and office. 

The rest of the girls were either on their beds or in a streaming room – nothing too outside of the ordinary, but if you like the thrill of public streams with a risk of being caught, they’re offered here.

In terms of age ranges, of the 1,156 live females when we visited, 317 were between 18 and 21. If you’re a fan of MILFs, you’ll be pleased to know that 230 live streams of performers over 35 were available. Eyeballing the stats, younger camgirls on BongaCams are more likely to be from Latin America – which is almost always going to be Colombia.

Male Performers

There are options on BongaCams for those who want to see dudes – but it’s really nothing to write home about. Camboys here tend to be South American and gay. Their profiles say ‘bisexual’ most of the time, but they’re doing this not to limit themselves to just a male audience. Sampling the streams, it’s quite clear that these are almost entirely gay men.

72 male streams were available, which is around 5% of the total online talent pool. Stream quality from these guys is worse than the average female—that’s quite common when it comes to camming. 

Webcams are lower resolutions, and setups are average at best. There’s less of a market for male streamers, so it’s hardly a surprise.

Trans Performers

There’s a header link available if you want to watch shemales on BongaCams – 64 streams were available in total, most of them from Colombia, but a few Asians were in the mix too (almost all from the Philippines).

As with the female performer category, the best of the best here are Colombian trans cammers: they were all in the top 10. We’d say that the trans section on BongaCams isn’t a main priority of theirs, but despite having a small pool, the quality is acceptable.

Couples

When we visited, 66 couples were streaming on BongaCams. As expected, Colombians dominated in terms of the total number of cams offered and the most viewed streams on the platform.

Most of the shows were a single guy with a single girl, but 2 of the top 20 streams had 2 girls with 1 guy. The shows were relatively slow paced – one of the things about couples is that they can’t really screw for hours on end, so there’s a lot of teasing and waiting for the action to happen. In terms of penetration, only a couple of shows had any – one with a blowjob, the other with some missionary sex.

Live Shows

Many different show types are provided by camgirls on BongaCams, but there’s a clear bias toward free-for-all performances where the girls make their money from tips and bonuses, as opposed to pay-per-minute income. If you’re coming here and you only want to watch free streams, you’ll be spoiled for choice.

We do recommend that you contribute to the platform when and where you can, but there’s no need to spend masses of money to have a good time here.

Free Public Shows

There are zero restrictions on BongaCams for models who want to stick to purely free shows – rival platforms such as Streamate and LiveJasmin will require you to bust open your wallet if you want to see anything worth pulling your pork over.

This show type dominates the platform: we’re actually able to hack the platform slightly to see what the numbers are. If we navigate to the ‘spy mode’ page, you can see shows that are private or group: a little math suggests that of the 1,200~ shows, 1,100 were in free mode.

No account is required to watch the streams on BongaCams. You’ll need an account to send messages in chat, but the signup process is quick and painless.

Private Shows

Despite BongaCams being focused on free shows, most camgirls here have the option for you to jump into a private session with them. 

Note that the most popular performers tend to reject requests, since they make far more from tipping when they stream to hundreds of people instead, but small and mid-sized streams are usually more than willing to hop into private sessions.

When requesting a private session, you’ll be shown the above options. The options explain themselves quite clearly: unless you pay extra (in most cases), others can ‘spy’ and see what’s going on. Some models don’t charge more for full private.

Note that cam to cam in private chat is available, and you don’t need to pay extra to enable it.

Sadly, there’s no way to filter camgirls based on their private show rates. To try and gauge an average, we looked at the latest 15 models who just went live: their prices were between 35 tokens and 130 tokens per minute for a private chat. Tokens cost roughly 5 cents each, so this translates into a per-minute rate of $1.75 to $6.5 per minute. 

The average (mean) show cost was 62 credits, so $3.1 per minute.

Exclusive Chat

Models tend to charge an extra 10 to 30 credits for full private. Around 20% of camgirls don’t charge extra and in most instances, it’s not that much more. We even found one girl that had her full private at a lower rate than the shows that could be spied on!

Voyeur Shows

It’s called ‘spy mode’ on BongaCams, but it functions similarly to how it does on other platforms. Note that you won’t be able to communicate in any capacity when you’re spying – so there’s no ability for you to dictate the action. Audio is available.

Spy mode tends to range from 15 to 30 credits per minute. This clocks in at $0.75 to $1.50 – talk about cheap thrills. Navigate to the ‘spy mode’ tab if you want to see all the girls you can check in on: expect to find around 50 to 100 shows in total.

Group Chat

This is an extremely small segment of BongaCams’ total market: just 3 shows were in group chat mode. You’ll pay a small fee per minute and only those who are contributing can take part in the action. The rates were very similar to voyeur shows, so you’ll average around $1 per minute to watch these.

Stream Quality

BongaCams supports shows up to and including 1080p – pretty much the industry standard, and we’re happy with the average show quality here. The biggest show used the following format:

This is definitely in the higher range for a live feed, and we did spot some 1080p streams at around 3 Mb/s – but that comes down to the model’s output, and we appreciate the fact that BongaCams lets girls go up to 6 Mb/s.

When sorting based on cam score, 15 of the top 20 girls had 1080p as a format, with the rest providing 720p as their top-end option. 

One problem we do have with BongaCams is that you have to manually select 1080p each and every time: we understand why they do this (bandwidth ain’t cheap), but small inconveniences are worth mentioning on an otherwise solid platform.

BongaCams seems to have a distinct setup for mobile camgirls that’s a little different – instead of running at 25 or 30 FPS, these tend to be 60 FPS and run in 1280p. The shows will be pillarboxed on desktop devices, but with a decent enough monitor, it’s fine.

Site Design

On the whole, BongaCams is a perfectly well structured and formatted website that doesn’t make you jump through hoops to find what you want.

You can find different ethnicities using the category dropdown on the sidebar – if we were going to moan about anything regarding this, it ought to be more obvious and easier to access. Right now, Asian, ebony and Latina are are mixed in with general niches, such as hairy pussy, mature and smoking.

Show preview panes on the index pages are live screenshots of the feed: you can even prompt it to show you a small preview by running your mouse over the camgirl you want to check out. We also appreciate clear, categorized sections for all cams, females, males, couples and trans girls.

There’s also a special section for newer models.

We appreciate the ability to filter by age with a slider: other sites do this with upper and lower bounds, which seems vastly inferior to this approach. You can also filter performers on BongaCams based on their languages spoken: most offer English, but others are available.

Live Chat UX

The chatting environment at BongaCams is acceptable: all the bells and whistles are here, with very few distracting features or misplaced tools. You can change resolution, volume and even stream to your TV if you want, all provided as options in the bottom-right of the embed. 

The biggest problem we’ve got? You can only go fullscreen if you’re a premium user. The stream display takes up a huge amount of the default viewing area anyway, but this limitation is bizarre and unnecessary.

When you jump into most rooms, the chat will have a “room topic” blurt out the various token tip amounts that result in a range of activities. 

We’d like to see a dedicated menu for this that models can play around with. Putting it into their chat area and topic seems messy. Surely there’s a better solution?

If you scroll down on each model’s page, you’ll be shown lots of details about them, as well as some images and videos that you can check out. 

You can also pin models, which will put them at the top of archive pages. There’s also a tool to be notified whenever they come online.

Mobile UX

Despite claiming to have a mobile app, BongaCams has no such thing. 

What they do have is a guide on how to add a bookmark/shortcut to your iPhone or Android device so you can quickly get to the mobile version of their website. There’s nothing wrong with the BongaCams’ mobile experience, but calling it an app is like calling something that’s not something something. Does that make sense?

The homepage is spot on: some cam platforms try and reinvent the wheel in this regard, but almost all of BongaCams’ mobile real estate is devoted to what you’re probably here for: the sexiest and most popular girls. It also doesn’t spam you with ads and signups, although you will get a few prompts every so often to nudge you toward creating an account.

What’s quite nice about BongaCams on mobile is the ability to swipe between shows. Left and right over the display switches you instantly to a new camgirl. Try it with a single hand – real easy.

Despite BongaCams having a huge chunk of mobile-optimized streams, these aren’t displayed as a priority – puzzling. If you sort by views, all the top shows are better suited for mobile users. They’d probably make more sales if they prioritized the display of vertical streams for handheld devices.

Extra Features

There are other gadgets and features worth mentioning – the base experience is fine, but it’s always nice to have a few extras to really enhance the cam shows.

Interactive Sex Toys

The bread and butter of any freemium platform is the ability to activate sex toys with tips. BongaCams allows models to embed Lovense and Ohmibod products – the two major devices on the market. Camgirls will often display their activation prices in their chat topic description and with an overlay.

Each token is about 5 cents, so you can get the party started for less than a dollar. Guys typically like to spam low-cost vibrations over and over again – pretty much the definition of cheap thrills.

We’d like to see better embedding of toy activations – a sidebar panel or something like that. These products have been on the market for years, and it’s about time that cam platforms stepped up their game. 

It’s a problem across the industry, but there’s no reason that BongaCams can’t be the first to really come along and show everyone how interactive sex toys should function.

Content Purchases

Each performer’s profile on BongaCams has a section where they can sell content – both videos and images. 

It’s not as fleshed out as other services (MyFreeCams, for instance), but if you want to get some 5 to 10 minute videos for a couple of dollars, they’re offered here.

Action-to-Spend

Since the vast majority of what you see on BongaCams is completely free, the ratio here is quite stellar – especially compared to premium hubs like Streamate and LiveJasmin where, if you don’t have a decent chunk of change to spend, you’re not going to see much. 

You will be pinged to sign up from time to time, but there’s no hard limit on the amount of content you can watch. No account is required either – it’s possible to visit and use this site completely anonymously for as long as you want.

Private sessions are about the standard rate – but that’s to be expected. We think that some of the Colombian camgirls here represent incredible value for money, but that’s across the board in terms of live sex, so nothing unique to BongaCams – except they do have quite a few top-tier Latinas to watch.

Sadly, group shows really aren’t much of a thing here. They’ve fallen out of favor over the years – less than 5 were available when we visited.

Refund Policy

We were unable to find any clear policy across BongaCams’ platform. Generally speaking, if you’ve spent any credits – those are gone. However, if you loaded your account and want a refund, if you request it within 28 days, it might be granted. Cam sites are quite strict, and if you chargeback, you’ll almost certainly be banned.

Discreet Billing

BongaCams utilizes a third-party billing service to process card payments. Different countries use different processors, but your card will say things such as SegPay or BNGCM. A quick Google search yielded very few results that made it clear what our purchase was.

We think it’s fair to say that BongaCams’ billing is fully discreet.
