CamSoda Review

Some cam hubs are pretty run-of-the-mill – meat and two veg, stock standard, no pushing the envelope. If any cam site were the opposite of that, it’s CamSoda. Trying new things and coming up with fun ideas is their bread and butter, and we’re totally here for it.

Case in point: CamSoda was the first online platform to offer virtual reality cams. They’ve since removed this service from their website, but there’s plenty of other features, tools and ways to have fun here.

For our money, one of the best elements of CamSoda is their recruitment drives. We’ve seen some incredible pornstars stream here before. Do the names Tori Black, Lexi Belle, Brandi Love and Elsa Jean ring any bells? 

They’ve all done live shows here. 

In fact, Brandi Love has put on three shows this week alone.

CamSoda offers females, males, couples and trans girls. When we visited, the site boasted a total of just over 1,500 live streams – definitely up there with the largest webcam platforms. 

As you can probably guess, most of these are solo girls, but there’s still action here if other types of shows interest you.

Female Performers

This is what most people are coming for, so it’s just as well that there are plenty of options for you to mull over and consider. In terms of backgrounds, the most popular camgirls here tend to be Latin American. 

Colombian girls seem to dominate – we’re talking at least half of the top 40 girls online. This isn’t out of the ordinary in the camming space: girls from down south really are something else in this space.

On the left-hand side of the website, an ethnicity filter allows you to pick from white, ebony, Latina, Asian, Arab and Indian. There were 24 Asian, 5 Arab and 5 Indian streams online – a couple of the alleged Arab and Indian streamers weren’t either of those things. 

We also noticed a few Latina girls in the white category, so be careful of filtering out Caucasian chicks if you’re only looking for tanned goddesses from south of the border.

There are plenty of other filtering tools here too. MILFs, teens, skinny girls, BBWs, blondes, redheads and so on. We’d argue that the current management of age ranges is woefully inadequate.

BongaCams has a slider approach, where you set minimum and maximum ranges. It's a thousand times better than whatever this monstrosity is.

The top camgirls here put a little effort and energy into their shows, meaning they buy good cameras, get lighting equipment, create an attractive environment for watching and so on. 

We’d say that CamSoda is probably more toward amateur than professional, but it’s not as raw as, say, Cam4. 

The exceptions to this are the featured shows, which come from pornstars, OnlyFans girls and supermodels.

Male Performers

Around 40 streams on CamSoda featured solo men. The average quality here is pretty low – there’s not a lot of money in the male camming game, so a lot of men don’t bother to put on a show. It’s mostly faceless dudes jerking and doing it for fun, as opposed to being a regular source of income. 

We’ve seen pro guys on other platforms before – CamSoda’s as amateur as it gets, outside of going to a Discord server called “Jerking Buds” and jumping into a group stream chat entitled “24/7 Virtual Goon Cave”.

The dudes here are mostly South American and almost entirely gay. That said, we saw black guys, white dudes and even an Indian in women’s clothes. Two female performers were also incorrectly tagged and displayed here.

Trans Performers

We found over 80 trans performers on CamSoda. Once again, a large percentage of models are from Colombia. 

The action is pretty typical of an amateur freemium cam site. Most of the TS models are happy to perform in the free public chat. You can see full nudity and various 'cum shows' without reaching for your wallet.

Couples

The couple cam count clocked in at 55: not too bad. Most of the streams were one girl, one boy, but there were a couple of group sex shows and lesbians too. 

Around 20% of the streams seemed to just be solo women – maybe a few had off-camera co-stars, but it was quite clear that a non-zero number were incorrectly tagged.

As with the other categories, Colombians rule the roost: they make up a large portion of the available talent and second to that, they’re typically the most watched performers. If you’ve got a thing for Latinas, this ought to be hog heaven.

Without a doubt, our biggest criticism of CamSoda is the quality of the streams. They’re far below average, and it’s something that they need to change as soon as possible.

If you look over on the CamSoda performer Wiki, they suggest that girls output a 1080p resolution stream – the problem is that when it sends that feed through to you, it’s downsized to 720p. That isn’t cutting it in this day and age – especially when we look at the bitrates.

We sampled 10 of the top streams and this is the best we got: below 2 Mb/s for all of the shows. 

For reference, a platform such as BongaCams supports 1080p and bitrates up to 6 Mb/s. Our question is this: if CamSoda isn’t going to offer 1080p in 2025, when is it going to offer it? 

You might not think these technical specs are such a big deal, but it does make a difference on the viewing experience. The lower quality leads to 'blockiness', especially in motion (fast gestures, hair movement, etc).

The switch should have been done years ago, and for a company that tries lots of new things and has many firsts, it certainly misses the mark by a country mile where quality is concerned.

Some sites have models with poor Internet connections/bad setups, and that inhibits the quality of their show.

On CamSoda, it’s quite clear that for some girls, their setups are good and they have great webcams, but the bottleneck is the platform. This is never a good thing, and we urge CamSoda to enable 1080p as soon as possible.

Both of the screenshots below are of the same camgirl. On the left is her Lovense overlay on MyFreeCams, on the right is the same overlay on CamSoda. Do you see how the numbers and text is far clearer on the left? It translates over to bodies too.

CamSoda’s got a few extra bits and bobs that we ought to cover. Plenty of things have been tried and retired – others have stuck around!

Verses Mode

It’s an interesting concept: you watch two camgirls at the same time, and they’re both trying to receive the highest amount of tips within a 3-minute period. 

Whoever gets more wins, and there’s a tally under each girl’s profile that tells you how many times she’s won.

You can watch the individual shows without the versus mode, and it’s not the biggest feature on the platform, but it’s fine. Around 20 girls were in versus mode – it’s supposed to incentivize action, but given the sample size we had, it’s difficult to work out if it actually did.

The girl on the left has, quite clearly, seen some battles over the years. 2,300 wins? Impressive.

One of the problems with this feature is that it needs to put two horizontal cams next to one another, which means they’re downsized. You also can’t zoom in or change the center point via desktop, although it is offered on mobile.

Interactive Sex Toys

CamSoda has great toy activation features. Lovense and OhMiBod are both supported, and most free streams have activations starting at a single token (just a few cents). The platform lends itself to donating a bunch of small amounts to send vibrations to the model’s toy. 

There’s a more advanced feature called ‘control her’, where it basically lets you pilot the toy for 30 or 60 seconds, but it’s pretty expensive and from what we’ve seen, barely used.

Despite having a tip menu, CamSoda doesn’t have an embedded tool for toy activation – it’s done with overlays and messages in the chat. This is a common trend in the industry and it’s bizarre. It’s slightly above average, but still a long way off of what it could be.

Model Media

There’s a model media section linked in the header: you’ll be able to buy pictures sets and videos here. Costs really do vary – the most popular media tends to be around 100 to 250 tokens, or $10.000 to $25.00. These scenes can be quite lengthy, but most come in at 10 minutes. We saw a few pushing an hour and beyond.

There are low-cost scenes if you’re interested. Some uploads are even completely free, though these are typically just short clips from the models’ streams.

The content doesn’t have a direct download option, but you can literally load the video, right-click and save it to your PC. Download speeds are also strangely impressive – our gigabit line managed to reach 80 MB/s. 

Files here aren’t particularly large, but it’s nice that they’re delivered quickly. It also tells us that their servers are certainly capable of supporting 1080p streams!

When you land on CamSoda’s homepage, you’ll be shown featured models – these are basically the top shows. We appreciate that they opt to not only show you live thumbnails of the girls in action, but they play out a few seconds of the stream every 15 seconds or so too. 

We think it would be a little too jarring to have all of them playing at one time non-stop, and CamSoda’s approach really hits the spot between visual overload and utility.

We’d like to see live previews on mouse over – other sites do this, and it’s great functionality. The show previews do reset multiple times per minute, but it’s not responsive – you cannot prompt any one show to have its thumbnail turned into a preview of the action.

Filtering is fantastic: we love the fact that you enable and disable female, couple, trans and male cams with a tick box and select various ethnicities, token prices and body types. 

We mentioned age filtering earlier: a fumble on par with Kayne divorcing Kim. 

Make it a slider or reduce the number of categories. How are ‘teen’ and ‘young adult’ as well as ‘mature’ and ‘MILF’ meaningfully different?

Live Chat UX

Once you’ve picked a show that you like the look of, click on it to load up the cam embed, chat room and all of the other bells and whistles that come with tuning into a performer’s live show.

CamSoda has a standard display, theatre mode and full screen. We think theatre mode is superior to the standard display: all of the interactive tools are moved to the right-hand side and the stream takes up more real estate. You’ll still be able to adjust quality, volume, tip the model and prompt a private session.

You’ll find embedded tip menu functionality here – few cam sites offer this and when they do, it’s usually the ones with the highest fees, making it somewhat redundant.

The main reason we like tip menus is because it cleans up the chat and makes the options that are available easy to select. 

Sadly, CamSoda still fills up the chat area with a lot of spam, including tips, highlighted menu options, social media plugs and so on.

The benefit of a tip menu is that you can get rid of that ugly nonsense in chat. We’d also like a different area for tips, because people spam small amounts and yeah, it’s just not ideal. 

Simply put: the chat box here functions more as an information console and advertising area than it does an actual chat.

As you can see in the above screenshot, CamSoda does have a few extra features, such as a spinning wheel, slot machine and dice. The integration and functionality is fine, but most models and users don’t bother using them.

You’re spoiled for choice with regard to payment options. Here are the ones currently offered for users in most Western countries:

• Credit and debit cards
• Cryptocurrency (BTC, LTC, ETH, BNB, etc.)
• PayPal
• Gift cards (Walmart, Best Buy, etc.)
• CashToCode
• Wire Transfers

Note that depending on where you’re living, options may change. Tokens are quoted in USD, but if you’re elsewhere, the processor will handle the conversion for you. 

In our case, they took an extra 4% with an AUD purchase over the mid-market rate. We’re not losing sleep on this, but it would be nice if you could choose. Plenty of people have access to USD-denominated debit cards, even if they’re not in the America.

We prompted a purchase with cryptocurrency and it was processed with RocketFuel: we verified that nothing extra was charged to us, and $1,000 worth of credits cost exactly $1,000 in ETH. 

Dozens of other currencies are supported and in fact, it offers the lowest price per token. Bulk purchases at $500 and above equal 8 cents per token, or 12.5 tokens per $1.

Most options give you the same rates for tokens, so it’s not like going with PayPal or a wire transfer is going to yield you a different offer. The tangible differences here are the savings you get at different purchase amounts. Crypto also offers the largest option for bulk purchases: 312,500 tokens for $24,999.99.

Discreet Billing

Billing codes will vary depending on which payment processor is provided (different ones for different regions).

Epoch processes lots of different online purchases, and there’s no indication that it’s specific to an adult website or CamSoda in particular.

We think it’s fair to say that CamSoda’s billing is fully discreet.

Screen real estate is a premium for mobile devices, so we’re a little less than impressed with the approach that CamSoda has taken.

Our philosophy and preference is always going to be as many preview thumbnails as possible. 

You get 4 here on a modern iPhone: that’s half as much as BongaCams. Too much of the display is taken up by ads, prompting you to join and buy tokens. That’s okay at certain points, but prospective users haven’t even sampled the goods yet – who’s going to make a purchase before they’ve seen what’s on offer?

Despite the poor initial impression, we have to admit that the overall mobile experience is good. You can flick between streams using left and right swipe, change the focus point with a small drag button if you want to watch horizontal streams in vertical mode and even do cam to cam.

CamSoda doesn’t have any mobile streams, so all content is delivered horizontally. It might be an idea to hold your phone sideways if you’re planning to stick around for some time.

Those who don’t want to pay don’t have to, so that’s always a bonus when visiting a cam hub such as this one. The website doesn’t limit guests in any capacity in terms of hours watched, but you won’t be able to type.

Cam models can also disable messages from people without credits – they usually do this, and we’re not going to pretend that it’s unfair or unreasonable.

Almost all of the shows here are public. A small fraction of girls are private only, but you’ll get plenty of entertainment from those that don’t charge to tune in. You can also activate most toys for as little as 10 cents!

If you do jump into private sessions, it’s nice that there are plenty of price points available to you. Good shows have going rates below $2.00 per minute, especially if you snag a newbie that doesn’t quite know their value.

There are some real hidden gems in the 6 tokens per minute area – that’s just $0.60. Having a camgirl for an entire hour for less than 40 bucks? Yeah, that’s a steal.

There are a few minor issues on CamSoda that don’t really factor into our decision making process, but the real flaw right now is the lack of 1080p, or at the very least, higher bitrate 720p. 

You might have gotten away with this format in 2020, but even that’s pushing it. It’s disappointing too, because CamSoda could become even more competitive overnight with this simple change.

Still, the platform deserves praise for recruiting a lot of top quality girls, offering free content 24/7 and being mobile friendly. It offers a few extra features and tools not seen elsewhere and the featured streams with models and pornstars are really good. 

Signing up is painfree, billing is fair – yeah, there’s little outside of the stream resolution and bitrate to be complaining about.
