MyDirtyHobby Review

MyDirtyHobby (MDH) isn't a world-famous cam site, and unless you're from Germany, chances are you've never heard of this platform before. 

Other cam sites claim to have amateur girls but have morphed into places where performers have gone pro - MDH is very much about real amateur entertainment from camgirls that don't do it as a full-time job.

It's important to note that MyDirtyHobby does have a cam area, but it's secondary to the amateur content hub that it offers. 

Most webcam services have media sections as an afterthought: MyDirtyHobby is the exception to this and flips things the other way around - the images and videos here are the main drawcard.

You'll find women, men, couples and transsexuals on MDH: no discrimination from the platform perspective, but as with most cam platforms, the economics incentivizes women to stream a lot more. 

MyDirtyHobby has an extensive focus on European performers: almost all of them are from Germany, but other countries nearby are also represented to some degree.

Owing to the source of the action, expect available numbers to fluctuate wildly. 

During primetime (5 p.m. until late CET) you'll find 200 or so live performers - but this can dip down to double-digit numbers during the early hours. Other platforms have less deviation and offer relatively decent action 24/7 - MDH stands out because since it's so primed toward the evening in Europe.

Female Performers

Of the 166 live cams, 162 were women. 

This is one of the biggest bias we've ever seen on a camming platform that doesn't outright stop men and couples from streaming. 

Note that it's not possible to filter based on country of origin, but it is possible to filter based on languages spoken. Most of the German speaking women here are going to be from Germany, but some Austrian, Swiss and Lichtenstein camgirls might also appear.

Women here are overwhelmingly white - they're under the 'European' category. Other ethnicities you can select from the dropdown include Asian, Latina, African, Middle Eastern, Indian and Japanese. There were 3 Asians, 4 Africans, 3 Middle Easterns and the rest of the categories were empty. Non-white streamers here still appear to be from Europe: one of the Asian girls spoke Italian, another spoke German.

Most of the models here were between the ages of 18 and 25, but somewhat disappointingly, MDH has zero way to filter by age. 

It's not like they only have 'young' or 'mature' categories: there's literally nothing here to organize performers by their age. Thankfully, profiles do have their ages attached, so you can see how old each performer is before jumping into a private session.

Outside of the large German population, you'll also find camgirls from Spain, France and Italy. Germans dominate though: well over half of the active streamers were from Germany.

Male Performers

There were a couple of German men online and a guy from Spain. It would appear that Spanish and Portuguese men do pretty well here, but that's all relative: it's evident that there's not a lot of demand here for guys.

The guys that do stream here tend to be gay: there's a small market for guys in general, but an even smaller one for dudes who like chicks. The site does have filtering options for straight, gay and bisexual - it would appear that everyone just selects all three, since flipping between these didn't change a thing.

The male performers don't put much effort into their shows. It's almost like they're planning to jerk off anyway and if someone wants to watch, they're welcome to.

Trans Performers

We found 12 trans girls online: more than we'd have expected. The trans performers here tend to be from Latin America, with Colombians being 10 of the dozen available. 

Most of them had English and Spanish listed as languages spoken - one of the streams here was even a couple (trans girl, cis male).

A few months ago during a provisional screening, we noticed that MyDirtyHobby doesn't have the Colombian trans girls listed under 'Latin-American': this is confusing. We're worried that if you do filter by ethnicity elsewhere, you might miss out on girls you're actually interested in.

Couples

Just 2 couples in the couples category, plus the trans mentioned above (not listed under the couples tag). Both of them were from Colombia and seemed to have a genuine relationship. 

We looked at their profiles and saw content going back several years – people who sign up, stream and share content on MyDirtyHobby tend to stick around. There’s a community feel here that you rarely see on camming platforms, so that’s kinda cool.

You don’t have any control over the stream quality: there’s a singular output, and based on the shows we sampled, they cap out at 720p. This tends to be the difference between the good and the great platforms: it’s 2024, and you really ought to be offering 1080p as standard. 

Bitrates on MDH tend to run from 1.2 Mb/s through to 1.5 Mb/s – average at best. It’s not bad by any stretch of the imagination, but other platforms (MFC, BongaCams, etc.) do a far better job with specific regard to objective quality.

Bandwidth isn’t cheap and we respect that, but like – everyone who’s watching these shows is paying every minute to do so. It doesn’t cost much to serve 1080p streams up – surely they can cover it. 

We’d be less irked if 720p was only for free users or something, but paying customers get 720p here, whereas free streams on BongaCams run at 1080p and have three times the bitrate.

Subjectively, the shows here are pretty amateur in nature. The girls are hot and they put on decent performances, but they come to the scene via content production, not through a traditional camgirl path. They’re here to make money – that’s for sure – but it does feel that they’re having more fun with it than your average performer does on other services. 

MyDirtyHobby as a whole is more pivoted toward homemade content. The girls can make a living here, but it’s under their own terms – no seedy recruiters, coercion and so on.

MyDirtyHobby is more than just a cam platform: it’s a community of amateur content creators, and that actually makes up the bulk of the traffic that comes to this website.

Content on MDH

Most camgirls here have large profiles where you can buy content and learn more about them. One girl we saw had over 300 videos on the platform, as well as 16 blog posts. There are plenty of non-camming content creators here too – Germans are the main producers, so if you like the idea of having access to amateur videos from Europe, this is the place to be.

We calculated over 500,000 videos and close to 5 million images: that’s a lot of content.

Here are the top videos from the last month: they’re all about 10 minutes in length and cost anywhere from 600 to 1500 DC. That equals out to about $8 to $20. The scenes here aren’t cheap, but you’re supporting smaller content creators. There’s also a section for content that’s on sale, so if you’re interested in grabbing discounted European amateur porn, check it out.

We purchased a few scenes to test them out: it would appear that 720p is the top-end format, which is pretty disappointing. 

You also can’t get a sample of the action before grabbing the upload – surely a short trailer wouldn’t be a bad idea? Scenes can’t be downloaded either, so if you lose access to your account, those videos are also gone too.

Dirty Plus and Dirty Max

MDH also offers two subscription-style upgrades that give you more perks beyond the standard cam and content setup: Dirty Plus and Dirty Max.

• Dirty Max (€10/month) – This is the top-tier option with 4K streaming, free webcam minutes every month (5 included), bigger chat messages (up to 500 characters), premium animated gifts, discounts on virtual event shows, and access to exclusive premium scenes featuring MDH stars.

Both tiers are designed to make interactions more personal and intimate, but Dirty Max is where the real high-quality video and live perks kick in.

VIP at MDH

Every so often, MyDirtyHobby hosts parties in Germany that you can attend – but only if you’re a VIP.

Buying 20,000 DC costs a bit more than $168, so this is a great deal if you’re planning to stick around and use the platform regularly. The party pass is what a lot of people want though – as well as access to the expo and other events. These engagements often have multiple popular performers on the platform that you can chat and interact with. 

We’d love to give an actual review of these events in person one day, but for now, we’ll just use our imagination.

Sadly, nothing in the VIP package – except the bulk DC – applies to the camming side of things.

So in terms of navigation, filtering loading speeds and all of that – MyDirtyHobby is absolutely fine. The sidebar makes accessing all of the site’s features pretty easy, and remember that there’s a sizable chunk of content offered here that’s not attached to the cam platform.

We will throw criticism to MDH though: the spam messages are really annoying. Models can send you automated PMs and in order to respond to them, you have to pay. They also make a noise, so while writing this review, we’re getting pinged in the background over and over again.

You’ll see just below the model’s name is the cost you have to pay to send a message: 100 DC is $1.36 or thereabouts, so you’ve got to cough up quite a lot if you want to message these girls and yeah – you’ll get plenty of requests without interacting with anyone. 

As you can see, they’re mainly German prompts – thankfully, since we don’t understand German, we’re immune to these sirens and their calls.

There’s extensive filtering options for the cam shows – something we can really get behind. Some models are incorrectly tagged, but by and large, it’s accurate.

There are a few more options below these choices, but you get the idea. It’s possible to select multiple at the same time too, so if you want to find submissive Germans with athletic bodies, it’s possible to do that with relative ease.

Live Chat UX

Barebones is an understatement: there’s a chat area, a volume slider, a few settings to fiddle with and pretty much nothing else. If you really want to give some love over to the camgirls, you can send them some tips in the form of gifts. These range from 500 DC through to 5000 DC, or $6.80 through to $68.

The biggest missing feature within the live chat area is the inability for users to activate toys. Lovense and OhMiBod are staples of other services, so it’s a shame that they’re not available here. Since they’ve already got a tip menu set up, surely it’s not too hard to add functionality for interactive sex toys?

Quite a lot of the time, you’re going to be the only person in the chat, and since this place functions differently to most other camming spaces, the attention will be on you. No chat spam with donations, no GIFs, nothing. The private nature of the shows here really makes the place feel … empty?

Dirty Coins (DC) are what you spend here: similar to credits and tokens that you’ll be familiar with from other platforms. You can purchase these with USD and EUR. We received our quote in USD.

Your options will vary depending on which country you’re in. You’ll also pay around 3% extra for tokens if you purchase them via cryptocurrency.

Refund Policy

We scoured the website for information regarding refunds: no dice. They might be available in extreme circumstances, but our advice is always going to be never adding funds to a cam site unless you’re sure that you’ll use them.

Discreet Billing

Third-party payment processors are utilized here: which one you get will be determined by wherever you live. When we purchased credits, the site was not directly traceable to MDH. Googling did uncover some adult-related purchase information, but nothing specific to MDH.

We think it’s fair to say that MDH’s billing is partially discreet.

We’ve seen our fair share of poor mobile cam sites, but MDH takes the top prize in terms of non-functionality. If you’re looking for a good hub that handles mobile access well – this ain’t it. Take a look at the following screenshot:

In order to send a message, you have to scroll down even further than what’s displayed here, meaning that you have to get rid of the cam stream while you type something. 

This is comically awful: if you’re trying to communicate with the model, you cannot watch her at the same time. The horizontal viewing experience is also dreadful: you cannot resize the stream, it takes up around 50% of the provided space and you have to scroll down even further to type something.

Accessing the content that MDH has works quite well on mobile, but since we’re specifically here for the camming stuff, this isn’t much of a saving grace. We’d go so far as to say that you shouldn’t access the streams here on your handheld device: stick to a traditional computer instead.

Plenty of platforms have a stellar action to spend ratio – basically, you can get by without spending a penny and see a lot of world-class models performing all day long. 

MyDirtyHobby is essentially the opposite: there’s nothing here unless you have funds that you’re willing to spend, and it’s the most restrictive platform for non-spenders by a huge margin. We don’t know of any other platform that requires payment just to sample the shows.

There doesn’t even appear to be free videos here – other cam platforms have them, and given the huge content pool on MDH, we’d have expected at least a few.

Some places seem to be fine with giving you a little something for free – MDH does no such thing.

So, when all is said and done, how does this place stack up? 

Honestly – it fulfills a pretty singular niche: giving you access to German amateurs. If you’ve made it this far and you have no interest in European camgirls – well, sorry for wasting your time. 

Sure, there are a few Latinas here and the odd Asian, but if you’re going to use this platform in any serious capacity, it has to be because you want to see what the EU has to offer in the camming space.

MDH would be so much better if it had a freemium approach, 1080p shows and toy integration. They’d see an immediate improvement in their profits if they adopted our recommendations – they’re leaving a lot of money on the table here, because we know there’s a hot market for great amateur European camgirls. The market is pretty saturated with Colombians, and babes from Europe are a nice alternative.

We wouldn’t say that you ought to avoid MDH entirely, but for the average reader here, we think your time is better spent elsewhere if you’re indifferent to the EU factor.
