Deciding on just one cam site can be a challenge — they all have something to offer. But why limit yourself and your profits?
Variety is the spice of life, and you can build an audience on as many platforms as you choose.
Collecting fans is the ticket to camming success, but every model experiences quiet periods if they stick to just one website.
By tapping into each platform's unique customer base, you can kiss goodbye to dead rooms for good (for the most part, anyway).
However, there are two ways to do so: the "official" route or the "unofficial."
The "official" time-splitting method is the one cam sites would prefer you follow. It involves streaming separately on each platform. For example, you might spend Tuesdays and Thursdays on MyFreeCams, Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays on Chaturbate, and Fridays on StripChat.
Multi-tasking is a no-no here.
You're providing your undivided attention to watchers on each site at set times.
Once people fall in love with your performances, they'll get to know your schedule and log in to their preferred site to watch your shows.
While people won't typically follow you from platform to platform, that isn't the point. Splitting your time across various camming sites is about harnessing the power (and profit) of each separate audience. You're doing it right if you have unique sets of fans.
Correct.
You have to be selective about the amount of time you dedicate to each platform. Spending too long on one site at certain times could alienate a potentially more active audience on a different website.
Yet, not performing for long enough on one site could ruin your chances of gaining attention.
We talk a lot about discoverability for models on CamsRank. You want to make sure you give yourself the best possible chance of landing on the homepage or getting featured.
It's a juggling act alright.
Hence, most cammers opt for...
You may have guessed but we'll say it anyway — this is the method cam sites do not prefer.
However, that doesn't mean you can't do it. And, as we've mentioned, the majority choose this route for its timesaving, profit-boosting capabilities.
Dubbed "split-camming," this route lets you stream across multiple platforms simultaneously.
To do this, you'll need to download a cam splitter. There are tons available, but the following are the most recommended:
Regardless of the software you choose, split-camming is relatively easy to set up.
But let's tackle the unmoving elephant in the room shall we...
Not if you do it right.
And by that we mean, understand the platform's opinion on multi-streaming. Some will kick you out for using this software. Others won't advertise it, but will allow it nonetheless.
Here's how the three most popular cam sites feel about it:
ManyVids, LiveJasmin, BongaCams, Cams.com, and CamSoda also allow (some may say "tolerate") split-camming. After all, they understand that you're an independent contractor.
We'd recommend you read through our individual cam site reviews for a taste of what works well on each platform.
If that isn't enough to convince you that you'll be just fine, maybe this will help — cam model yummybrownfox mentioned:
"I know someone who had been splitting ten sites at a time, and she said that she'd been working seven days a week."
Said performer, Diana_Devil, confirmed the lure of split-camming:
"You can stream safely on as many sites [as] your PC [can] handle. I am the crazy one streaming ten sites simultaneously seven days per work. Just pay attention: if you mix token sites with private sites, you must respect the rules from the private-based sites."
LiveJasmin, for example, doesn't allow nudity in free rooms. Thus, baring all while streaming to multiple sites could cause a ban for violating this rule. Stick to the guidelines and you'll have a smooth ride.
Choosing to multi-stream has proved super beneficial for many cammers. But there's definitely a lot to consider.
Some platforms simply don't go well together. Using our example from above, LiveJasmin wouldn't work with Chaturbate as the latter allows full nudity in public rooms.
Not a problem if you're a non-nude cam model, but for everybody else... it can affect your basic show structure.
It isn't just about selecting platforms with similar public rules. It's also about ensuring their tip menus, rates, and peak traffic times align.
You don't want to make it obvious you're streaming on multiple sites at once, so being mindful of their differences can keep you in good standing.
Even if you aren't streaming on Stripchat (whose guidelines state you can't multi-stream private shows), you still shouldn't be broadcasting your private rooms. It's simply bad etiquette and will put off those who would otherwise pay you for an exclusive performance.
This now-deleted AmberCutie's Forum user explains why:
"As a viewer, I'm generally okay when a model split-cams her public room. Where I absolutely draw the line with split-camming is privates. In particular, MFC's TruePrivates or exclusives, as they are a higher rate and are meant to be between model and member only. If I know a model split cams, I will ask her to shut down any and all streams to other sites before initiating the private. If she refuses, I refuse to take her private. If we go private and I catch even a hint of a broadcast elsewhere, I immediately end the private, block the model, and report her to the site. She's lost all my business, and no future interactions will occur. For me, it's the quickest way a model will lose my trust."
Some people don't feel this way, but it's best practice to switch off all streams before heading into a private show.
Split-camming isn't all sunshine and rainbows:
Viewers don't care how many other sites you need to keep track of; they're just concerned about how much you interact with them personally, as Makko attests:
"It's all about interaction really. Take notice of people on each site and react to all of them. If I come in a room and get ignored, even after tipping, that does not make me bookmark her for a later visit. And yes, that has happened."
Split-camming, especially to more than three sites, takes a toll on your bandwidth.
To be successful, you need high-quality video across all platforms. So, run some tests beforehand to ensure your connection is up to the challenge. If it isn't, you should think about following the "official" method of gaining traction on several platforms. Remember: you get the same result; it just takes a little longer.
There are two distinct schools of thought regarding the tip sound debacle. Sinderella25, a cam model using AmberCutie's Forums, sits on the "for" side of the fence:
"When I split, I keep the volume on. I don't know if it's bad etiquette, but it's easier for me because I know when to do certain actions that are tipped for if I don't have my Lush in/on. When I reach [a] goal, I do [the] goal for both sites. I find that gets more people in the room, for one. And for two, I'm still making money either way because people start tipping on site B when I'm doing a goal on site A. I'm willing to take the chance because if I've met [the] goal, I've already made enough to satisfy me for the day. It's worked for me."
But fellow cammer JessicaXOXOXO is decidedly against keeping the tip sound on, stating:
"It is TERRIBLE etiquette to have the sound on. Big spenders and loyal members of one site or the other hate when models split cam. I have my sound off and let my tip vibe notify me. Then, I have AirPod Pros [which] I connect to my work phone for notifications for messages and indy requests."
Neither performer is alone in their opinion. However, we're siding with JessicaXOXOXO on this one.
Watchers, especially big tippers, want exclusivity, and if they think your attention is divided elsewhere, they won't return.
So, prevent that unfortunate occurrence by switching your tip sound off for all sites.
Ultimately, the choice is yours. But AmberCutie model mika_kedi has some words of wisdom for industry newbies:
"If you're just starting, I would do one site at a time, at least initially, to learn how it works and get a basic hang of how you want to run your room. When you feel confident you can handle your first site and feel like you want to add more, you can add a second one to split stream. But I would still recommend doing at least one stream on the second site without splitting to learn its specifics. Repeat this [process] with however many sites you want to/can handle."
You heard the pro!

But if you're already familiar with two or more sites, the multi-streaming universe is your oyster. Just make sure to follow the do's and don'ts to avoid bans.
