How Our Review Process Works

How Does The CamsRank System Work?

CamsRank uses three separate scoring systems to highlight the strengths and weaknesses of each platform -- not just from our point of view, but from our readers, too.

1. Our Overall Rating

For each site, we give a weighted score between 0-10 based on performance across eight core metrics:

Model Selection

What is the overall quality of the model roster? 

We use different criteria depending on whether the site operates under a freemium, premium or hybrid model. 

For freemium sites, we put more weight on the choice offered to the user (body types, nationalities, ethnicities, etc). For premium sites, we look at the professionalism of its models. Are they capable of providing a 'premium' experience?

Live Shows

What is the overall quality of the live streams offered?

Does the site offer a good mix of options for different customer tastes (e.g., private vs. public vs. group shows)?

Stream Quality

We sample the resolution, FPS and bitrates from a random selection of streams.

We're not just looking at the headline numbers. We also want to see options for users with poor Internet connections, including the ability to downgrade quality for a better viewing experience.

Site Design

What is the overall user experience? Does the platform do a good job of surfacing its top performers? How easily can we filter, sort and navigate through the model database?

Mobile Experience

Similar to Site Design, but with all testing carried out on a mobile phone.

We test the Live Chat UX in addition to basic navigation. We're looking for an interface that puts the performer front and center and makes the options we need easy to access.

Extra Features

What extra features, innovations and added value does the platform offer compared to a traditional cam site?

Action-to-Spend Ratio

How much action can you see for free? Are private shows priced fairly?

We specifically grade sites relative to what we can get for our money elsewhere.

Payment Options

Does the site make it easy to buy credits - and does it reward loyalty/bulk buys with discounts?

We're looking at the transparency of the credit value system, flexibility of payment methods, an acceptable refund policy and discreet billing. We also assess whether international customers (paying in non-USD) are charged fairly

2. Aggregate User Rating

Simple - this is the aggregate score given to a platform by our readers.

We always encourage our readers to rate and review sites where they have an experience to share.

Positive, negative, neutral. Doesn't matter. 

Your experiences provide enormous value to our readers, and they help us to ensure that our own reviews remain balanced and fair.

3. Genre Ratings

We rank each site's performance across ten different genres. These are categories of cam sites that appeal to different users.

Categories include:

• Voyeur cams
• Chat roulette
• Free cams
• VR cams
• Interactive shows
• Fetish shows
• Mature models
• Gay cams
• Trans cams
• Couples cams

Some platforms have a low overall rating but perform very well in a specific genre. For this reason, we track both overall rankings and the rankings of each genre. Our rankings page lets you choose how you want to sort them.

The Review Process

The most important thing we do—and you'd be amazed at how many of our competitors don't—is to extensively test every site that enters the CamsRank system.

We spend 5-6 days thoroughly testing the features you need to know about - both free and paid. That means we spend money on private shows, VIP features, and paid upgrades. We don't just assume they'll be worth your money.

How can it take six days to test a webcam site, you ask?

We typically engage with each platform's support team, seeking verification for any technical claims made ("Check out our 4K cams!"). We also place several card transactions, for example, to ensure that billing is fully discreet on our bank statements.

Provisional Reviews

All of our reviews are checked and verified internally before being sent to our editor for a full write-up. 

In instances where we have scored and graded each of the features, but haven't yet processed the final review or verified each factor, the score is marked as Provisional and may change over the coming days.

Updated Every 9 Months

Each site on CamsRank is reviewed every 8-9 months. This ensures we catch any improvements or deterioration in the service provided. 

In some cases, a site's score may drop through inaction -- for example, where rival platforms invest heavily in their streaming and video quality, a lower score may be necessary to reflect a site that is taking no action to improve their own offering.

We also have an internal flagging system that triggers an automatic review whenever our score reaches a statistically significant deviation from the score given by our readers. 

This doesn't mean we will update our own score, but it ensures that we are checking the issues (or praise) observed by other active users.

Do We Moderate User Reviews & Ratings?

Our user rating system is safeguarded by an algorithm that detects any suspicious voting patterns. 

If a user or brand attempts to spam positive (or negative) ratings, we have systems in place to detect, flag and remove the ratings.

All user reviews are moderated to ensure they are legible and free of personally identifiable information (e.g., specific model usernames). This should take no longer than 24 hours.
